first_imgDear Wilmington Residents,Upon entering Wilmington High School, people are welcomed to the sight of a quote hanging above the school library’s entrance that reads: “The essence of Wilmington is captured in the spirit of its people.” As a lifelong Wilmington resident, that message speaks volumes to me. I can vividly remember sitting in the old high school’s cafeteria during my senior banquet. Several students were selected to read aloud the “The Class of 2006 Prophecy.” Some graduates were predicted to go on to professional athletic careers, as others were chosen to become Valedictorian four years later as they graduated college. I’ll never forget my prophecy: “10 years from now Brian Caira is… still in Wilmington.” It’s one of the few that came true, but I’m so happy that it did. I loved growing up here, playing ball here, graduating from here, teaching here, and buying a home here. Wilmington is a wonderful place to live, and the perfect place to raise a family. One of the biggest reasons why Wilmington is such a desirable place to live is because of the volunteers that have devoted their time and energy to making sure Wilmington is the best town it can possibly be. Two of those people are Kevin Caira and Greg Bendel. These are two men who are consummate professionals, exhibit impeccable character and have both run clean, positive campaigns to earn your vote at April 27’s Town Election. They have been ridiculed, slandered and unjustly criticized for months by the supporters of their opponents, some of whom have decided to hide behind aliases or fake accounts on social media platforms.I urge you all to do your homework. Take the time to read their endorsement letters. I’m confident you’ll find a consistently positive tone in all of the letters written on their behalf, much different than many of those written for other individuals in the race. Take the time to re-watch the debate on WCTV. Kevin and Greg are the only two people at that table that respond to every question with sincerity, always answer honestly, articulate knowledge on every topic and never once slouch in their chair or appear uninterested in answering a certain question. Read their campaign statements. It will not take long for you to learn about all of the amazing accomplishments that both Kevin and Greg have had a hand in not only as Selectmen, but as volunteers in town prior to earning a seat on the Board. Never once, will you find either man blindly make a false promise to our town’s residents without understanding the ramifications of said promise.Again, “The essence of Wilmington is captured in the spirit of its people.” On April 27th, we as residents, will be given the opportunity to decide which candidates’ spirit best represent our town. In my opinion, that’s one thing that shouldn’t be up for debate. Please join me in casting a vote for Kevin Caira and Greg Bendel at this year’s town election.Thank You,Brian CairaLike Wilmington Apple on Facebook. Follow Wilmington Apple on Twitter.
