Last night, both sides agreed to suspend their protests and legal actions immediately.Talks will be held on Monday between both sides, after the intervention of Agriculture Minister Michael Creed.Meat Industry Ireland was threatening to take legal action to prevent further damage to the factories – 14 of which have closed.Eddie Punch, the general secretary of the Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers’ Association (ICSA), welcomed the news. He says: “It gives us space for meaningful talks.“The meat industry has to realise that business, as usual, is not working – and ICSA will be insisting that they come to the table with concrete proposals to address the grievances of our members, and all the other farmers who have stood outside factory gates for the last two weeks”.Donegal beef farmers suspend protests as breakthrough reached was last modified: August 21st, 2019 by Staff WriterShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more

first_imgNew manager Rafael Benitez was barracked by disgruntled Chelsea fans as he took charge of his first game.It has been an emotion-charged afternoon at Stamford Bridge following the sad news that legendary ex-Blues boss Dave Sexton died today.Benitez, unpopular among Chelsea fans from his time at Liverpool, was greeted by jeers before a rousing minute’s applause for Sexton, who led the club to their 1970 FA Cup triumph and the European Cup Winners’ Cup the following year. And on 16 minutes the home crowd demonstrated their feelings by chanting the name of sacked manager Roberto Di Matteo, who wore the number 16 shirt during his time as a player at Chelsea. On the pitch, the first half produced little of note before Sergio Aguero missed a great chance to put City ahead when he headed straight at keeper Petr Cech.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 Follow West London Sport on TwitterFind us on Facebooklast_img read more

first_imgSAN JOSE — Sharks coach Pete DeBoer was willing to forgive a few of the mistakes his team made in its first game back following the Christmas break and not judge his players too harshly after three days away. That included the play of Tomas Hertl, who had an up-and-down game Thursday in centering the Sharks’ third line against the Anaheim Ducks. In what was one of his few starts in the middle over the past season-and-a-half, Hertl won nine of his team-high 18 faceoffs against the Ducks. first_img12 Unique Gifts for the Hard-to-Shop-for People… 4 Keys to a Kid-Safe App Related Posts The New Year often reminds us of things we have meant to do all year. Many New Year’s resolutions often fail, but setting one revolving around a digital solution can sometimes work its way into your routine with less pain than a daily trip to the health club. Organizing our family’s photos is one of the things that became part of my routine after making a resolution a few years ago.If your parents are still alive, you could be faced with shoe boxes full of old photos to add to your own collections. Such pictures might be important peeks into your family’s history and are worth preserving. If you add to those boxes your own collection of pictures and the digital photos that are scattered over your various devices, you can be looking at a huge challenge. The best solution is a routine that takes care of the present and starts nibbling away at the past. With a history of storing photos in the cloud for years, I have put a lot of thought into organizing and protecting our photos. Others might have different ideas, but this is what works for me.My solutions are not operating-system specific. It will work on a Mac or a Windows machine, or you can accomplish the same thing with a computer running Linux.I’m going to suggest that photos you are going to archive deserve to be cropped and adjusted before you save them. You will be surprised how pleased you will be in the future with your handiwork. There are a number of photo editing programs out there, but I’ve been using Picasa and iPhoto for years. Picasa is free and iPhoto still comes free if you buy a new Mac. Picasa is one of the first applications that I load on a new computer. I have even been running it on Windows 8 since early December 2012 without any problems. Picasa also runs on any Intel-based Mac. There are a number of Linux photo solutions though the one I prefer on my Ubuntu system is Shotwell Photo Manager.Dealing With The PresentWhen working with present-day shots, I never let my photos age on the camera’s memory cards. When I come in from my morning or evening walk, I immediately import my photos to my Windows laptop. A quick scan will usually reveal six or seven that I like. I mark them with Picasa’s “star” tool, then crop and adjust the lighting and color. My goal is always to tune the image to look the way I remember the scene looking to my eye when I snapped the photo. If I wait even a few hours to do this, it is much harder to recall the setting for the picture.Once I am happy with the photos, I export the starred ones to my Google Drive in the cloud. You could just as easily use DropBox or Microsoft’s SkyDrive for this step. On Linux Google Drive is not officially working yet, so I would use DropBox. My photos go in a folder automatically given today’s date. The next thing I do is “share” my edited photos to a chosen album in the cloud on my Picasa web album account. Basic Picasa web album accounts are free and tied to your Gmail address. Once in Picasa web albums, my chosen photos are already in the cloud at two different places. Some reviews of photo archiving software complain that Google has made using Picasa for this purpose more difficult, given Google’s effort to push sharing through Google+. There is a simple secret to solving this. I have two Gmail accounts and one of them is not tied to a Google+ identity. I use the one disconnected from the Google+ identity for photos because I can send my photos directly to Picasa web albums without having to first share through Google+. However, sharing a set of photos through Google+ does automatically creates a Picasa web album, so if you have no problems sharing in two places, you’ll still get your Picasa album.Typically, I also set up albums for special trips or events. I always have a bucket album which covers photos for a three month period like “Fall of 2012.”Google has made it very easy to add photos to your Picasa web albums even if you don’t use the desktop application Picasa on your computer. Once you access one of your Picasa web albums via web browser, you can select the action “add photos” and then just select photos on your Google drive or computer and drag them to the browser window. Once the photos are on the web, it is easy to re-order them, add captions or even select the cover photo for the album. You can also share links with others to an individual photo or an album. If your photos have GIS information, you will also see that in Picasa web albums.I go one step further with my photos. I carry the same photo memory card upstairs to my office and import the photos once again to iPhoto. Often seeing photos on a different computer screen with different software will have me choosing a few more that I want to keep. On the Mac it is easy enough to “flag” the photos that I like and have tuned up and then upload them to the same daily folder on my Google Drive. I then repeat the process of adding the additional photos to the cloud-based Picasa web album I have chosen. At the end of the process, I have my preferred photos in the cloud in two places, and on two different computers that are backed up regularly. Only then do I sometimes share general-interest photos on Facebook or Twitter, and special ones on Pinterest.Photos taken on my smartphone get automatically uploaded to my DropBox account where it is easy to import them. It is also easy to share a photo taken by my smartphone using Bluetooth sharing to my Windows laptop.Archiving The PastFor the last few years, I’ve been tackling boxes of photos, albums and slides from the past. I usually manage to find some down time in December to do that. Scanning photos is a good way to escape holiday insanity.Last summer, as we were moving from our home of over twenty years, I actually finished up all the photos we’ve collected over the years. After I threw away photos that no one could identify or were of poor quality, I handed the boxes of photos and slides over to my oldest daughter to see if she wanted to comb through them one more time. When tackling boxes of real prints and slides, I use an Epson Perfection V500 scanner. I chose it because the software works well on Macs and Windows computers and it was fast. I can scan each photo in less than a minute. Slides take a little more time, but because you can load a few slides at one time, it is not a lengthy process. As I get a number of photos scanned, I will import them into iPhoto or Picasa and then move them into an album on Picasa web albums. I usually tempt the other family members to add their own by sending them a few photos or a link to the album of recently scanned photos.I could have done the same thing on Flickr, but I find the sharing and privacy options a little more to my liking on Picasa web albums. My extra 25 GBs of Google storage costs me $2.49 per month. Even with my huge collection of photos and email, I have only used 41% of my storage.Regardless of which services you use, or how you want to organize your photos, the important thing is to establish a pattern that will make your photo organization less of a chore and more of a part of your daily routine.Image courtesy of Shutterstock. david sobottacenter_img 5 Outdoor Activities for Beating Office Burnout 9 Books That Make Perfect Gifts for Industry Ex… Tags:#Photo Sharing Services last_img read more

first_imgAdobe Anywhere IntegrationAdobe Anywhere is Adobe’s enterprise collaborative workflow platform.Designed for teams it works on standard networks and doesn’t require proprietary hardware.Team members work with files on a shared server that doesn’t require downloading. This could be a game changer for those that need to work remotely with other team members. Will you be using Premiere Pro CC for video editing?Share your thoughts/experiences in the comments below! Fit ClipPreviously in Premiere Pro, when you had In & Out points in both the Source & Program, you got a dialog box that asked what In &Out points you wanted to use. This was confusing to FCP users as its behavior was to ignore the Out in the Source. Now Premiere Pro gives you the option to remember your choice so you only see the “Fit Clip” dialog once. Write Keyframes in Audio Clip MixerPremiere Pro CC adds a Clip Audio Mixer to make working with clip audio easier. They also add the ability to record audio keyframes by selecting the “write keyframes” button. Click the button and then move the Fader to record keyframes while the clip is playing. There is a Preference for thinning out keyframes so you can then modify them as needed. Improved MulticamTheir are several new time saving multicam features in Premiere Pro CC.  Andrew Devis covers the new features in more detail here.In Premiere Pro CC you can mix different media, frame rate and sample rates. You have the new option of “sync to audio” which is handy if you have audio from a separate audio recorder that you want to sync to video clips (the video clips need audio). This gives you some of the features of Red Giant’s PluralEyes without needing a plugin. There are shortcuts for multicam and you can add additional ones as needed. Click images for larger view:center_img These tips will save you time and you get up to speed quickly with the changes and new features in Premiere Pro CC!More and more editors are checking out Premiere Pro and the new version has a lot to offer former FCP & Media Composer editors. In this post, I share my 10 favorite Premiere Pro Creative Cloud tips that will get you up to speed editing in Premiere Pro.For more Premiere Pro quick tips, check out my previous post on 10 Premiere Pro Tips for FCP Editors. Premiere Pro CC will be available June 2013 via Adobe’s Creative Cloud. Project & Scratch Disk ChangesWhen you Launch Premiere Pro for the first time you are greeted with a “New Project” dialog box. Here you choose where your Project and Scratch Disk are being saved. Premiere Pro defaults to user/documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro (your Scratch Disks and Preview files follow the project by default). Be aware that if you are working with card media, they are considered imports and not captured media. You can now change the location of your Auto Save folder to anywhere on your computer or external HD.  Under the Scratch Disk tab assign your “Auto Save Folder” where you’d like.Click image for larger view:Make your desired changes, click OK and Premiere Pro CC will launch. Previously this opened a “New Sequence” window. However, this new approach seems a more streamlined way of setting up your video editing projects and less intimidating to new users.Assembly WorkspacePremiere Pro CC adds the new Assembly Workspace.  This is a workspace layout that has a large Project area with the Program & Source Monitors sharing space. This is a handy workspace if you like to use Premiere Pro’s Hover Scrub, then set In & Out and use shortcuts to quickly Insert or Overwrite edit.As the name suggests, this workspace is designed for quickly creating a rough cut in Premiere Pro.Click image for larger view: Increase Clip VolumeModifying clip audio levels was one of my most used shortcuts when I used Final Cut Pro 7.Premiere Pro CC adds shortcuts for increasing the volume of one clip or selected clips. This is a big addition, as I often want to quickly raise or lower the volume for clips. The shortcut for adjusting audio levels on clips in the timeline is left bracket “[“ for decrease and right bracket “]” for increase.  CUDA and OpenCL GPU supportThe list of supported video cards has increased, which gives you more choices for GPU acceleration. This is big, as having a supported card offers noticeable performance improvement.Sync SettingsI previously mentioned the new Premiere Pro sync settings here, but it is a big enough feature to mention again. This lets you sync custom settings/presets/layouts to the cloud and access them from anywhere. The sync settings can be found on the Welcome Screen, in Preferences and from the Premiere Pro Menu (File Menu on PC).Add Edit & Duplicate FramesYou can access settings for “Show Through Edits” & “Show Duplicate Frame Markers” from the wrench (the Timeline Display Settings in the Sequence). Now you can choose to see through edits (from using add edit or the razor tool)  and duplicate frames when you have used part of a clip multiple times. I used this often in Final Cut Pro and it is nice to have this option in Premiere Pro CC.last_img read more

first_imgMembers of the Amateur Radio Society of Odisha got together at an uninhabited island within the Chilika lake to test their operational skill and technology to help the public during natural calamities such as cyclonic storms. The team had chosen this island as it is inaccessible by conventional telecommunication network. During their two-day camp at the island that ended on Sunday evening, eight licensed private HAM radio operators of Odisha experimented transmission of messages to the outside world through radio signals.‘Used solar power’ It was an attempt to simulate real-life situation during any natural calamity when all conventional modes of communication cease to exist. “To simulate such a situation, we remained cut-off from the outside world for two days and used solar power to operate our HAM radios. A bamboo pole was used as an antenna tower,” said Gurudatta Panda, one of the participants. Amateur radio operators can link up with other HAM enthusiasts through ‘short wave’ radio frequency.Contacted 130 operators During the event, these operators, despite their lack of infrastructure, managed to contact around 130 Amateur radio operators around the world. Around 90 of these were from different parts of India while others were from countries including Denmark, Russia, Indonesia, Thailand and Australia. On Sunday morning they made contacts with HAM enthusiasts of neighbouring countries except Pakistan.According to ARSO members, the importance of HAM radios during natural calamities has not diminished in this era of advanced communication. According to them, during the Titli cyclone, Gajapati district was completely cut-off from the outside world for a few hours. During that time HAM radio with the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force became the main means of communication of the district administration with the outside world.A big help ARSO members feel that an increase in the number of Amateur radio enthusiasts in the State can be a major help to society in a cyclone and flood-prone State like Odisha. On Sunday, Puri district administration representatives arrived at the island to watch the experiments being conducted by the Amateur radio activists.“There are youths with technical education in electronics and telecommunication in all parts of Odisha who can take up Amateur radio as a hobby and help society at the time of need. In future, we may have HAM radio operators in all blocks of the State,” said Priti Ranjan Mekap, another participant.Apart from Mr. Panda and Mr. Mekap, other enthusiasts who participated in this event were Samir Ranjan Panda, Umakant Swain, Chandrasekhar Patnaik, Sunil Biswal, Tusharkant Mishra and Rajesh Kumar.last_img read more
