first_imgErnest Fage, minister responsible for the Emergency MeasuresAct, has declared a provincial state of emergency as of 8:30a.m., today, Feb. 19. “The snow storm has closed most major highways creatingdangerous conditions for the public and severely restrictingemergency response across the province,” said Mr. Fage. “Thepublic is to stay indoors and off the roads so emergencyservices can respond to the storm when it is safe to do so.Public safety must be our number one concern.” The minister, during the state of emergency, has the authorityto do everything necessary to ensure the health and safety ofthe public and protection of property.
